The organization of the Authority was established by Cabinet Resolution No. (33) dated 02/11/1426 AH. The General Authority of Civil Aviation holds a public legal personality and enjoys financial and administrative independence, with organizational ties to the Minister of Transport. The primary mission of the Authority is to regulate, develop, and advance the civil aviation sector and the air transport industry within the Kingdom. It aims to enhance their national contributions and position them as key attractions for investment by both the domestic and international private sectors.
